The screenplay is written by Harshavardhan Kulkarni. Hasee toh phasee stars Sidharth Malhotra, Parineeti Chopra, Adah Sharma, Manoj Joshi, Sharat Saxena, Aariyan Gupta and Disha Savla. Now, as Nikhil has one week to prove himself worth enough to marry Meeta's sister Karishma, the old acquaintances become quite close to each other. Nikhil is re-introduced to Meeta nearly ten years after their first meeting. Adah Sharma was looking gorgeous and was good in a small role. Sidharth Malhotra still has a long way to go in terms of acting though he was better than Student of the year. She is funny, emotes expressively and does a great job overall. Hats off to Parineeti Chopra for giving a fabulous performance. Few hilarious moments will tickle your funny-bone and that is enough to keep the ship sailing. Silver-lining is the entertainment factor which first-time director Vinil Mathew succeeds in achieving. Cinematography is outstanding along with powerful art direction. Screenplay is decent which is gripping in the first half but poor in the 2nd half. Bollywood movies have always been woven around self-realization of whom you actually love ( believe me it happens only during the wedding ceremony) and Hasee Toh Phasee leaves no stone un-turned with typical bollywood potboiler. In order to keep his marriage procedures smooth, Nikhil must keep away Meeta away from the family but actually falls in love her. Enters the trouble maker Meeta ( Parineeti Chopra), sister of Karishma, who was caste away from the family for 7 years. Nikhil (Sidharth Malhotra) is getting to married to Karishma( Adah Sharma). Except for decent Gore Teri Pyar Mein last year, Hasee toh Phasee is refreshing change for Indian audiences who have witnessed an overdose of masala films in 2013. Rom-com flicks are one of genre which has not been experimented in Bollywood much lately. In the midst of this confusion, the truth of relationships is unfolded the strength of unions is tested and love triumphs. During the course of Meeta's stay at Nikhil's house, they come close to each other and open up to each other.
In an attempt to please Karishma he decides to keep Meeta in the flat above his own house, with his crazy extended family. Nikhil is re-introduced to Meeta by Karishma and is instructed to put her up in a hotel. On the day of his engagement, Nikhil promises Karishma that he will prove himself to be worthy of her within the next seven days. Karishma's wealthy father, Devesh Solanki, does not approve of Nikhil as he finds him to be a lackadaisical young man. The film jumps to the eve of Nikhil and Karishma's engagement. He falls in love with Meeta's sister Karishma on the same day. Nikhil bumps into Meeta on the occasion of her sister Deeksha's wedding while Meeta is on the run. Spread across Mumbai over a decade, the film is about the relationship between the quirky, rebellious Meeta (Parineeti Chopra) and the mischievous Nikhil (Sidharth Malhotra) struggling with their respective families to fit in.
